I choose a Fair Municipality!

Since 2005, our city has held the title of Fair Municipality, a title we are proud of. The campaign encourages strong cooperation between entrepreneurs, civil society organizations, and the City of Ghent itself. Unfortunately, sustainable and ethical entrepreneurship is not always a given, and local governments' sustainable initiatives are increasingly coming under pressure. That’s why the national Fair Municipality campaign, which supports 194 cities and municipalities around fair trade, wants to remind politicians that many of their voters highly value environmental care and social justice.

The campaign?

Through a national postcard campaign titled "I Choose a Fair Municipality," everyone can urge (local) politicians to continue their commitment to a sustainable and fair future for everyone, here and elsewhere.
We want to place a stack of postcards and a bag at every sustainable location in Ghent, so visitors, customers, and passersby can sign the call there. All these personal wishes will be collected on November 15th.
The local campaign team will present them to the new municipal council in early December. This way, the new council will know that the municipality wants to remain a Fair Municipality!
