This week we will move south to Wallonia and go straight to Namur!
Are you looking for a cozy Sunday plan? Then you should visit Jambes flea market.
The flea market takes place every Sunday morning in Jambes, from 7 am to 1 pm the perfect excuse for a gentle stroll by the river banks! It is located on both sides on the Pont de Jambes, on the Quai de Meuse and Boulevard de la Meuse. Another sustainable shopping option is the oxfam bookstore, full of second hand books for every kind of reader. Besides, there are multiple second hand stores spread around the city center that are definitely worth a visit!
The citadel of Namur invites you to join Solidarités the last weekend of August:
these cheerful, vibrant, multicultural and family friendly festivities are sure to enchant you. Learn about other cultures at the Festival mondial du folklore in Jambes Namur, celebrating its 59th edition this year. Expect music, singing and dancing galore in 2021.
Let the Médiévales de la Citadelle de Namur transport you to the Middle Ages: there are hours of amazing shows to enjoy during this extraordinary weekend. If you are traveling with children, one on the top the Parc Attractif Reine Fabiola offers a range of entertainment options for everyone in a protected leafy green setting. With a large playground for kids under 12, an adventure route for all ages, mini-golf course, electric cars, trampolines and lots more! Check on their website the opening days and the prices!
The place that every tourist for the first time there must visit is the Citadel of Namur, you can get there by enjoying the view from the cable car! The price is reasonable, but there are also other ways of getting there.
La Rue de Fer is the commercial heart of Namur, you can find on Saturday the weekly public market! Looking for a museum to visit? The Felicien Rops Museum honors the namurois painter, his provocative and symbolic paintings won't leave you indifferent.
The park Louise-Marie is on the other hand, the perfect park to have a picnic. Enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and pick one of the paths for a nice walk. Inside it you can find the Jean Chalon Garden. It is a theme park that reflects on the relationship between man and plants in history. There are sacred trees, alchemist plants and over 300 other species to see.
At the citadel, you can find two other interesting gardens. The Jardin des senteurs (Garden of scents), full with perfumed plants to delight your senses, and the Jardin des deux tours (Garden of the two towers) with a medieval inspired theme.
Don't forget to check the opening hours!
